Juniors’ Section

Juniors

Doncaster Hockey Club prides itself on providing a welcoming environment for all Juniors, that fosters personal growth along with strong technical hockey development. We cater for players at all Junior age groups and all levels – from first time players to those representing at Region, State and National levels. Hockey at Doncaster is fun!

Doncaster Hockey Club is serious about maximising the development of junior hockey players and coaches. A team of experienced coaches lead the development of our Junior teams, and are overseen by our Junior Development Officer – Maria Romagosa, a former Olympian and Development Officer at Junior FC, Barcelona. Senior players are also regular visitors to Junior training; mentoring and encouraging the next generation of Doncaster legends.

Parents of players are actively encouraged to be part of the club – the input, support and encouragement, they provide is vital for the club’s success and the enjoyment of players.

In 2024, Doncaster will be offering a number of new, preseason programs for Juniors. Take a look at this document for more details.

Selection criteria

We use the first few weeks of preseason to organise numbers of teams and select players in the appropriate teams. We take different attributes into consideration including:

  • Previous form (e.g., last year for those who played at Doncaster)

  • Attendance at training

  • Performance at training and practice matches

  • Performance in games

  • Match game availability

  • Physicality

If players or parents have questions about the selection process, then please feel free to discuss it with the Junior Development Officer, Maria Romagosa.

Junior Honour Board - Awards and Results
