Coaching Positions Available

As we work towards the 2022 Season, Doncaster has three Senior Coaching related Positions available.  Those positions are:

  • Men's Premier League Assistant Coach
  • Women's Premier Leage Assistant Coach
  • Technical Director

We have a position descrpitions of these roles below and look for Expressions of Interest from anyone interested.  Applications for the two Premier League Assistant Coach roles close at 5:00pm 6th December, 2021.  Applications for the Technical Director role will close 5:00pm 17 November, 2021.

 

Doncaster Hockey Club Men’s Premier League Assistant Coach

Description of role

We are seeking expressions of interest for the 2022 season for a Men's Premier League Assistant Coach to work in a coaching team which includes a Technical Director and a highly experienced PL Coach- with the aim to deliver a high-quality coaching program to maximise the development and performance of a competitive teams in the League.

The success applicant will be mentored and work with one of Victoria’s most experienced coaching staff, and will receive dedicated support from a well-resourced club determined to establish best practice in all areas of player development.

Doncaster Hockey Club, Melbourne, Australia- with over 550 registered players, pride ourselves as a successful, family friendly and community based club. We cater for all ages, all abilities and all fitness levels – from beginners to elite level.

Our Men's section has over 120 players.

Doncaster Hockey Club’s talented squad of players have a mixture of Australian and Victorian Senior & Junior players, experienced senior and youth players who are all committed to playing at Premier League and Premier League Reserve level.

Our new Coach will have:

  • demonstrated hockey experience and knowledge – as a player
  • aspirations to further develop as a coach, including accreditation of coaching qualification
  • video analysis skills, or be willing to learn
  • developed communication skills and the provision of providing feedback to individuals
  • able to show leadership and mentoring attributes
  • a willingness to work in a coaching support team which includes, strength and conditioning coach, Physio, Manager and High-Performance Manager

We are seeking to appoint a Women’s Premier League Assistant Coach for 2022 to work alongside current Women’s PL Coach & former Spanish Olympian- Maria Romagosa, with the aim to deliver a high-quality coaching program to maximise the development and performance of a competitive team with strong team culture in the League.

The success applicant will be mentored and work with one of Victoria’s most experienced coaching staff, and will receive dedicated support from a well-resourced club, including a Technical Director, to establish best practice in all areas of player development.

Doncaster Hockey Club Technical Director

Description of role

The Doncaster Hockey Club (DHC) has identified the need for a Technical Director to progress our goal to be the leaders in Australian Hockey development of players and coaches and to create a strategic competitive edge within Victorian competitions. In conjunction with the Junior Development Officer and the Operations Manager, the role would seek to enhance high performance, player and coach development across the club.

The role of the Technical Director is to manage and oversee player and coaching development within the club and to act as a liaison between the coaches and Executive Board.

  • Appoint and assist Chairs of Selectors for Men’s and Women’s sections as required.
  • Support and connect the Junior Development Officer with the Chair of Selectors in Men’s and Women’s sections.
  • Establish a Coaching and Player Development Group
  • Work closely with the Junior Development Officer and the Operations Manager to ensure a culture striving for coaching and playing excellence throughout the club
  • Identify and encourage potential coaches
  • Act as a mentor for coaches
  • Initiate coaching forums and/or development opportunities for coaches within the club
  • Recruit specialist coaches and /or resources to complement club appointed coaches
  • Encourage Coaches to pursue further Coach education and accreditation

Essential Qualifications/experience

  • Played hockey at Premier League Level or above
  • Strong background in hockey coaching – successfully coached junior and/or senior hockey teams for several years
  • A clear understanding of the player development/junior transition philosophy of the Doncaster Hockey Club
  • Level 1 Coach accreditation or be working towards HockeyEd Recognition of Current Competency (RCC). RCC is the acknowledgment of skills and knowledge obtained through formal training, work experience and/ or life experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Highly motivated, strategic, innovative, responsive and experienced at Executive level
