About Victorian Juniors

Hockey Victoria is the parent body of junior hockey in Victoria. HV runs competitions in Mixed and Girls grades in Under 18, Under 16, Under 14, a mixed Under 10 competition and an Under 8 competition with modified rules.

There are three different levels of competition. The structure is set out below.

  • Shield
  • Pennant North West and Pennant South East
  • District North, District South, District West, District East

In each age group from Under 10 to Under 18 there is an Shield Grade, which is the top level of competition, and a Pennant grade, which is the second level.

There is an additional level known as either District North, District South, District West, District East.

There is a promotion and relegation system between the grades.

Doncaster Hockey Club is affiliated with the Hockey Victoria. The club has public liability insurance but it is up to individual families to take out private health or accident insurance.

HV web site is a valuable reference for information about the draw, ladders, coaching courses, representative team details etc. The ladder is usually updated each Monday morning. HV does not print fixture books. For links to the fixture site (click here).
