DHC Women's Section

The women's section of the Doncaster Hockey Club is made up of 5 teams ranging from SL1 to Metro 2 that accommodate players of all skill levels. In 2007 the top team earnt promotion to SL1 after a 3 season absence, which was a terrific effort. Holding promotion to SL1 is always difficult so it was pleasing to note that the team finished 7th in 2008 even with a very young list.  Further improvement occurred over season 2009 with the girls finishing in 5th place and in 2010 they played finals for the first time in 16 years finishing 3rd. Unfortunately, the upward momentum stalled in 2011 with the loss of a few key players and a coach. Early in the season the girls were staring at relegation but stormed home to win most matches in the second half of the season to finish 5th. With some stability in the player list and the new coach with a solid season under his belt the WSL1 team should be a genuine finals contender in 2012.

The club has a long successful history with the women's SL1 side winning the premiership in 1988 & 1989. We have produced one Australian player and numerous Victorian senior players and with a strong link to the junior section we expect this tradition to continue.

If you are looking for a club that is built on 38 years of history that provides players of all levels of skill with an opportunity to enjoy the game of hockey, with exceptional facilities (hybrid ground surface, which we can water for key matches & modern club rooms) and a strong social core you need look no further.

The women's section relies on a number of volunteers to ensure teams are organised, umpiring & canteen commitments fulfilled and social funtions are set up. If you are interested in assisting in any way please contact me.
