Vale Colin Andrews

It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the loss of Colin Andrews who passed away at home on 28 April 2022, aged 76.

Colin began his playing career with Doncaster Hockey Club in 1975 and went on to contribute to the Club as a coach, umpire, volunteer and very passionate supporter. He was often found serving in the canteen, manning the barbeque on Club days or behind the bar on a Monday night. He never missed a working bee and was always willing to give his time to the Club.

Colin was the Chairman of the Junior Section for four years and in 1999 he received The Chairperson Award; awarded to someone who has made a significant contribution to the junior section in the current season.

In 2020, as a Vietnam Veteran Colin was given the privilege of reciting at Ode at the fifth ANZAC Day Cup between Doncaster and Essendon.

Colin will be remembered by the DHC community as a passionate player and supporter. He sat front and centre in the pavilion supporting the Men's and Women’s senior teams just three weeks ago.

Our thoughts are with Colin’s wife Gina and their two children Casey and Tim.

A Memorial Service will be held at Doncaster Hockey Club (Mullum Mullum Reserve, Corner of Reynolds and Springvale Roads, East Doncaster) on Friday 6 May at 11am.
