2019 Winter Season Hits Off 6 April
As hot as it may be, the Winter Season is looming. Round 1 is scheduled for 6 April, that’s just nine weeks from this Saturday. And this season all the Senior teams (Premier League, Pennant, Metro, Masters) start the season off on that weekend. Previously, the Premier League started a couple of weeks ahead of the other competitions, however, for 2019 the Premier League will be a 19 Round Season.
This season there will only be one Premier League mid-week round (immediately prior to the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, 4-5 June).
The final detailed fixture of who plays who, where and at what time is yet to be confirmed, however, the dates of the rounds are highly unlikely to change. The highlights are as follows:
| Round 1 | 6-7 April |
| Easter - no matches | 20-21 April |
| Premier League Mid-Week match | 4-5 June |
| Queen's Birthday Long Weekend - no matches | 8-9 June |
| Junior State Champs, Under 21 Nationals* - no (club) matches | 6-7 July |
| Finals Start | 31 August-1 September |
* Dates to be confirmed.
Remember, Doncaster and Essendon have established hockey’s standout tribute for ANZAC Day with the ANZAC Day Cup, 25 April. Final fixtures are yet to be confirmed but lock in ANZAC Day Cup on that day, this year at Essendon.
With just nine weeks until Round 1 the Senior Men’s and Women’s Preseason Schedule is available below:
Everyone is welcome for preseason training from all grades during January-February on Tuesday & Thursday evenings.
