Grand World Masters – Ron and John strut their stuff

Congratulations Ron and John

Doncaster Masters Ron Todero and John Hamilton have just participated in the 2016 World Grand Masters tournament in Newcastle which concluded this week.

Ron was competing in the FIH World Grand Masters World Cup as a member of the Australian Over 75’s team that was actually competing against the youngsters in the Over 70’s competition.  Ron’s team was up against the Australian Over 70’s, which went on to defeat England in the Gold Medal play off.  Wales and Japan also had teams at this tournament.

John was competing in the Masters Tournament Trophy in the Over 70’s in Australia’s Southern Cross Blue team.  John’s Southern Cross Blue team defeated England in the Gold Medal play off in this division.

Congratulations to Ron and John doing Doncaster and Australian hockey proud.

The 2016 World Grand Masters tournament was one of the largest ever held, with more than 1,200 players, 45 umpires, 25 officials, 70 medical personnel, 70 managers, and up to 1,500 partners and thousands of proud supporters from over 30 countries.
