DHC Junior Development

Doncaster Hockey Club is serious about maximising the development of junior hockey players and coaches. As such, the club has appointed two Junior Develoment Officers . Very few hockey clubs have such a position, so our junior players are very fortunate.

Maria's hockey experience is extensive having represented Spain at both Junior and Senior levels including:

  • 1998  U16 National team
  • 2000 Debut Spanish National team
  • 2000 European Cup U21 - Leipzig
    • Leading Goal Scorer of the tournament
  • 2001 World Cup U21 Argentina
  • 2002 World Cup  - Australia
  • 2004 European Cup U21- Dublin
  • 2005 World Cup U21 – Chile
  • 2006 European Cup U21 – Italy
  • 2006 World Cup  - Madrid (4th position)
  • 2007 World Cup Indoor – Vienna ( Silver medal)
  • 2007 European Cup Manchester (4th position)
  • 2008 Olympic Qualification – Baku (Winner)
  • 2008 Olympics – Beijing
  • 2013 World League 3 - London
  • 2013 European Cup – Belgium

In addition Maria has filled a similar role as Junior Development Officer at Junior FC, Barcelona for 6 years and has coached juniors and mentored coaches as part of this.

James Legg 

James originates from the UK where he developed by his playing and Coaching career. James’ hockey experience at both Junior and Senior levels includes:

  • Regional representative (State equivalent),
  • England Development 16's,
  • National League and Premier League player (UK),
  • Level 2 qualified, BSc in SportsCoaching

The key role of the JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT OFFICER position include:

Player Development:  To oversee and deliver a quality junior development program  that is attractive to current and potential participants, during winter and summer seasons

Coach Development:  To deliver programs and support mechanisms for junior coaches that maximises their development to enable them to be effective and engaged coaches.
