DHC Junior's Section

The Doncaster Hockey Club prides itself on providing a welcoming club environment that fosters personal development along with a strong technical hockey development program for players at all levels and Junior age groups – from first time players to regional/state and national level players.

Parents of players are actively encouraged to be part of the club, and provide vital input, support and encouragement.

Doncaster will have competitions for the following age groups in winter season:

  • Under 6 (Minkey)
  • Under 8 - Mixed
  • Under 10 -Game on (modified hockey)
  • Under 10 Girls & Mixed
  • Under 12 - Girls & Mixed
  • Under 14 - Girls & Mixed
  • Under 16 - Girls & Mixed
  • Under 18- Mixed

Under 16 & 18 - players will alos have the option to join the senior mens and womens teams. Please contact the Chair of mens section or womens section for more details.

These teams are  coached by volunteers from within the club.  These coaches are supported through a set of development programmes co-ordinated and developed by the club's professional Junior development officer Maria Romagosa who comes to Doncaster- from Barcelona where she has played for Spain in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and our dedicated Junior Participation Officer.

Doncaster will also conduct two Hook in2 Hockey programs throughout the year. Hook in2 Hockey (formerly Minkey Hockey) is a program designed specifically for young players aged 5-8 years that have not played hockey before. It introduces the skills and game of hockey in a relaxed, friendly and non-competitive environment.

The success of the Doncaster Junior Section depends heavily on support from all sectors of the club and community and welcomes input and participation from any interested persons.
